Fueling Hard Work, Then and Now
Inspired by the legacy of Ontario’s tobacco farms, The Back Kitchen pays homage to the unsung heroes of the harvest season: the women who tirelessly prepared meals for dozens of workers during long, hot, and demanding days. From the 1950s to the 1970s, these "back kitchens" were separate spaces equipped to handle the monumental task of cooking, feeding, and cleaning for hungry crews.
Just as these kitchens once fueled the hands that harvested, our Back Kitchen is dedicated to fueling our guests with hearty, flavourful meals. By day, enjoy freshly made soups, vibrant salads, and house-baked bread.
Tucked away like its historic namesake, The Back Kitchen at Burning Kiln Winery offers a hidden haven of nourishment, warmth, and community. Come and experience food with a story—and leave with one of your own.
